IDEA OF HOME IN THE PRODUCTIVE CITY 1

Finally a website about the JEMA studio. As we are on the verge of leaving.

We stayed very underground for 10 years. We had to, because mixed use spaces, places where artists, scholars and other creators/entrepreneurs work, play and live does not fit in any legal box or the Régie du logement's idea of HOME. This has to change in a world where we want to work and produce in our home or the same building etc. I am very interested in the vivacity of neighbourhoods where commerce, production, playing and residential overlap.

This was one of the tricky points the landlords used to push the eviction, that the space was not purely residential. And we had too many guests- yes artists and entrepreneurs and scholars travel a lot for projects.

So here is the beginning of the website. There will be updates often. I am in the middle of making the list of some of the residents and finding some pictures . We didn't document much- living it up in the moment- so if anyone has any pictures let me know .
